Basant is only fun if everyone gets home from it. Six things we ask of every roof we deliver to.
Run it through your fingers. Cotton feels soft and dry; metal or coated string feels gritty and shines in the sun. Ours comes sealed on the pinna, so open it in front of the rider.
Kite flying in Punjab is regulated and the permitted days change from year to year. Confirm what is allowed in your area and on your date before you take the pinna up.
A parapet you can lean on, shoes with grip, and nobody walking backwards while looking up. A cut kite is never worth the edge of a roof.
Never fly near poles, transformers or overhead lines, and never pull a stuck kite off a wire: not with a stick, not with the dor. Leave it there and cut the line.
We sell gloves and tape for a reason: dor burns bare hands fast. Children hold the pinna, an adult holds the pech.
Morning and late afternoon carry the steadiest wind. When it turns gusty, wind in. When the light goes, the roof closes: no night flying, no fireworks, no aerial firing.
Fly clean, fly in daylight, and leave the roof the way you found it. That is the whole of it, and it is what keeps Basant coming back.

When sales open, how ordering works, what we sell and where we deliver. Nine things people ask us most.
Basant 2027 runs from 12 to 14 March in Lahore, three consecutive days. Sales will open only once the Punjab Government authorises the sale of kite-flying material. You can book your order on WhatsApp now, and a booking is confirmed only with 50% advance payment. Orders are delivered once the Punjab Government announces the season and the certificate is reissued. Only confirmed bookings are held, and stock runs out as the date approaches. We will announce the opening date on this page and on our Instagram.
We operate under the Punjab Regulation of Kite Flying Act, 2025. Seller and trader registration is not currently open, and we will not sell any material until our licence is issued. Our licence number will be published on this page as soon as we receive it.
You book your order on WhatsApp at basantshop.com. We deliver across the city, so there is no need to visit a market in Basant week traffic. Everything is sold singly at a published price — kites by the tawa grade, cotton dor by the pinna, plus gloves and tape.

No. A WhatsApp message starts the conversation, but it does not confirm your order. Nothing is reserved until 50% advance payment is made. Stock is limited and sells out close to Basant, so your order is only held once payment clears. We send you a confirmation as soon as it does.
Basant Shop is an online kite shop in Lahore. There is no market counter to visit. A collection point is available in Lahore, and the address is shared with customers once an order is confirmed. Otherwise your order comes to your door anywhere in the city.
We deliver within Lahore only and do not currently serve other cities. Inside Lahore that includes DHA, Gulberg, Model Town, Johar Town, Cantt, Bahria Town, the Walled City and beyond. Cash on delivery covers the balance on orders booked with the 50% advance.
We sell plain cotton dor only. We do not sell chemically coated manjha, glass-coated thread, or metal wire under any circumstances. These are banned and unsafe. Coated string is what killed motorcyclists and children before the 2007 ban. Every pinna we ship is sealed, so you can check it yourself.
A pinna is a ready-wound bundle of cotton dor. Everything is sold singly — kites by the tawa grade, cotton dor by the pinna, plus gloves and tape — so you buy only what your roof actually needs. We do not sell charkhis (reels), which are not permitted.
